Eagle Syndrome - Online Support Group

Finally a solution after surgery & more pain

#1

For all of you that know me posting for almost 2 years - I finally feel really good!
I went thru worse pain after Eagles surgery Aug 2017. Now 1 1/2 yrs later I am pain free! I had a raw nerve in back of throat after surgery that did not re-attach!
Still had throat pain and ear pain. August 2018 they sent me to a pain clinic (as I refused to take any pain pills!) and they put me on Gabapentin 300 mg 3 times a day which is a nerve pill (to try to activate the nerve to reattach) and Baclofen 10 mg 3 times a day. The pills didn’t do much for 3 months! Other than the Gabapentin made me gain weight (which I needed from fighting pain for years and couldn’t gain a pound) Then finally end of October (after 3 1/2 months on pills) I started to feel a little better, by end of November – I had just a small amount of throat pain.
And by mid January I had no throat pain! So 5 months on these pills and it solved that raw nerve finally connecting after the surgery! I never thought I’d see this day!!
So I finally pain free after going thru this Eagles for years, then surgery, and then
another 1 1/2 years of pain! So never give up!! Good luck to all of you!

Wow, that’s great! Such a shame it took so long, but good that you gave the tablets a try & they’ve helped…thanks for sharing your story to encourage others

Thank you for this great news! It’s very encouraging to hear from someone who didn’t recover quickly from ES but who stayed the course & found something that helped bring recovery to a victorious end.

Now get out there & start living life to the full again!!!

:joy:

Yes - you are right! Start living again pain free! I just booked a cruise
for Feb 24-Mar 3 and I am totally looking forward to a real vacation!
I can drink cold drinks, fruit, chocolate, unsweet ice tea now - all the things
I couldn’t do for the last 2+ years!! And can eat food without pain too!
Isaiah and Jules, Music Girl and a lot of others - thank you for all your support over the last 2 years since I got on here. You really helped me a lot – with medical advice, and especially just being good friends encouraging me all the time! A pain scale of 7-9 out of 10 everyday with no pain pills was a bit tough to live with, but you all got me through it!! So thank you and I definitely thank this website!!

Thank you so much for posting. I never heard of the raw nerve thing, but it does make sense. I wish you a great cruise and wonderful life going forward.
